1.       Identifying the Problems in the Community and Necessity of Social Action

Objective: To think about the problems in the community around and identify the root cause of the problem for taking some steps towards solutions in future

Action required: The Group shall think about various problems that were left without any solution. For example improper utilization of public buildings, Lack of Street light, etc. For easier brainstorming, the problems were categorized into four basic aspects which can be used or the group can categorize themselves after listing the problems with their root cause and expected solution, in their community as a whole.

A.  Social Problems like Discriminations / Inequality, Lack of Unity, Lack of Leadership, Conflicts, Transport, Ration shops, Government offices, etc.

Objective: To remember and learn something continuously that adds value to life

Action required: Based on the month, the youth group is in, may choose any of the days from below or can choose something different based on the need of people/interest of the group. It shall be done three- six months once.

6. Forming a Small Learning Center/ Library:

Objective: To create a small Learning Center/ Library that is applicable for a particular age group or for all, based on the need and the capability of the group.

Action required: The Group shall find a place (which may be a member’s home, or some well-wishers home, or a shade, or a public place, etc.) with the help of the Panchayat Secretary or Government official or some welfare organization and get some books and learning materials for the people to learn new things and spend their time constructively. Also, it need not be a fixed place and can be a mobile learning group. Each member in the group shall delegate the things like one may have a particular genre of books in his/her home, one shall have particular indoor games, one member shall have particular learning activity, like that; so that when a person wants to access or use that particular book/ material to learn something, he/she shall contact the particular person.

7. Help the needy Children/ Families in the community with the support of wealthier people

Objective: To be concerned about the needs of others, especially the underprivileged Children/ Families.  

Action required: The Group shall do brief need assessment survey or discuss among themselves about the children or families who are in extreme need and struggle a lot for their livelihood or education or some other basic thing like food, cloth, shelter. The Group or some members shall visit them and talk to them to find out the needs of the child/family and try to support them in something that is very much needed. For instance, if the family doesn’t have access to Electricity, they shall be given a solar lantern as a temporary relief, If the child doesn’t have proper clothes- some new cloth shall be given or neat old cloth shall be given if they receive it.

Objective: To create a database of the native and non-native people with their skills and background for helping them in their development and or motivating them to be part of the development of others

Action required: The Group shall design a Survey to get the basic details and skills of the people who are living in the community and the group shall split up into the sub groups or each member shall ask the help of other friends or people who are available in the community to help in collecting the details from the people in the community.

Objective: To be concerned towards others in special needs like Aged/ Differently Abled. 

Action required: The Group shall do brief need assessment survey or discuss among themselves about the Aged/ Different Abled people who need some physical or mental support from others. The Group or some members shall visit them and talk to them to find out their needs and try to support them in something that is very much needed. For instance if the Aged/ Disabled person need some aid to do certain things independently or need some medical attention, the group shall try to provide the same.
