WAY TO USE THE CONTENT

People can be the change makers in the community. If the immense potential of the people is utilized in the proper channel through little guidance it creates a great positive change in the community.

 

Small Groups:

Active small groups who think and work for the welfare of the people can make a big difference in the community. The Leadership training program with the use of ‘HANDBOOK FOR LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT IN THE COMMUNITY CONTEXT’ would be a platform for people, especially youth to develop themselves holistically and help to influence others around them, through leadership qualities and responsibilities. The targeted age group is above 13 years and there shall be no upper age limit. An ideal group shall be around 8-12 members.  

 

Purpose of Leadership Development Practice or Training:

People to become confident and responsible, by involving in the community through the utilization of time and talents.

People to critically think and collaborate with one another for a positive change through innovations and problem solving.

 

Proposal of Activities:

There shall be a 1.5 hours training sessions for the small groups in a scheduled time, monthly once, in the Leadership Development theme and focus. And the small groups shall be encouraged to meet weekly once with the guidance of the mentors for 1.5 hours to plan and prepare for the activities with a life skill, value based or awareness based topic lead by one of them in rotation for 15-20 minutes to develop their leadership skills. Guidance shall be provided on that by the mentors based on the need. As well they shall meet whenever some plans need to be implemented within the timeline, the group decided for themselves.

 

Dealing with the Content:

The theme shall be understood by the person who facilitates the training session. There will be one or two activities to make it more engaging and derive most of the learnings of the theme from it, rather than the lecture itself or presentation. The suggestive activity- to plan and implement has some list of activities with the template to plan those activities. The other topics or themes shall be dealt with based on the need and even the order of the mentioned themes shall be changed based on the need. Likewise, some other activities shall be planned and implemented based on the need.

Extension of Leadership Development:

Different groups in a location shall meet three months once to share some positive stories and some innovative plans for supporting one another for making things better. Yearly once all the groups shall meet together for presenting the reports and learnings with one another.

 

Credentials:

The People groups shall register themselves as associations or community based organizations by adopting the legal stipulations and have a formal forum for dealing with various works in a more systematic and organized manner.

The Youth groups who are active and want to make it a formal group to do the social welfare activities shall be encouraged to registered as Youth Clubs in NYKS (Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (nyks.nic.in)), an organization of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The groups shall also identify like-minded organizations or bodies that are prevalent in their localities and those who are approachable. They shall affiliate with them.
